Probably a water jar (mizuzashi). Second half 19th century

Probably a water jar (mizuzashi) of lozenge cross section with a straight vertical body and an almost flat lid with a knob in shape of a bridge (broken off), painted in thick enamels and gold on a transparent glaze with dense wisteria. Signed Satsuma yaki at the base and with mon of the Shimazu family in blue. Lid repaired. Second half 19th century.
