Mechelen circa 1600

A Mechelen alabaster relief of the Adoration of the Child, circa 1600.

Partially gilt.. A high-relief depiction of the stable of the nativity before a city view. The Christ Child is shown surrounded by Mary and Joseph, an angel, shepherds and the ox and ass. Carved with the master's mark and monogrammed "TT" to the lower centre. In a 17th century frame of the period (22.5 x 20 x 2 cm).
With some short hairline cracks, inset in a modern glazed wooden frame. 12.2 x 10 x ca. 1.5 cm.
