Gouache and India ink over pencil on firm, smooth paper 75.5 x 45.5 cm Framed under glass. Signed 'PASeehaus' and dedicated 'à Charles' within the depiction in black ink lower right. - With narrow brown paper strips applied by the artist along the edges, partially painted.

The person shown at the centre, with a black shock of hair, round spectacles and a cigarette is Rudi Börsch, an editor of the progressive magazine “Wiecker Bote”, published from mid-1913 to mid-1914. Börsch was also acquainted with Paul Adolf Seehaus. The dedication “à Charles” refers to a press event held by the editorial team in the fishing village of Wieck on the Baltic Sea which was also attended by Seehaus and where Börsch gave his name as 'Charles de Rouen'.
