A fine Neoclassical cut glass chandelier

Of gilt bronze and cut glass. Wired for electricity, including a later bulb to the centre. The six spiralling arms with 12 nozzles. Slightly ammended and truncated, the two lower rings swapped, all suspended elements lacking. H ca. 95, D ca. 85 cm.
Berlin, Werner and Mieth, ca. 1800 - 1810.

Literature

A similar piece is published in: Frank C. Möller, Hamburg. Two of the earliest examples of this type belonged to the original furnishings of Frederick William II's winter rooms in Charlottenburg Palace since 1797. Old invoices allow them to be attributed to the Werner and Mieth manufactory. Cf. also: Kreisel, Die Kunst des deutschen Möbels, München, 1973, Abb 35.
