An Upper Rhenish carved wooden figure of the Virgin and Child, circa 1500

Carved three-quarters in the round, the reverse flattened and deeply hollowed out. With older polychromy, extensively retouched after 1931.. A figure of the Virgin on the crescent moon, dressed in a girded robe, veil and a cloak draped over Her arm. She holds the nude Christ Child over Her hip whilst He reaches for the pear which She holds in Her right hand.
Some cracks to the veil and the Virgin's right hand. Minimal wear. Height 100 cm.
