A Netherlandish carved wooden figure of Saint Nicholas, circa 1510

Carved in the round, the reverse only summarily worked. Minimal remains of former polychromy.. A standing figure of the saint dressed in bishop's attire, holding a crozier and open book. As an attribute at his feet we see a tub with three of the boys who, accordng to legend, he raised from the dead.
The tip of the bishop's crozier and the right hand probably later additions. Minimal wear. Height 64 cm..
