A bronze figure of Yangguang Niangniang, the Daoist goddess of Eyesight, seated in European manner on an integral bench, in her hands a circular emblem with an eye and a headress consisting of three phoenixes. Remnants of a thin gilt lacquer patina. Ming dynasty.
Height 32.1 cm

Together with Songzi Niangniang (Our Lady of Child blessing), Yanguang Niangniang (Our Lady of the Eyesight) is an attendant to Bixia Yuanjun (Sovereign of the Clouds of Dawn), one of the most popular Daoist deities from the Ming dynasty onwards.
