Limoges circa 1200

A Limoges bronze Corpus Christi, circa 1200

Cast with hollow back, enamelled, and presumably regilt. A depiction of Christ crucified with three nails, His hands outstretched and His head raised. The body is rendered in fine quality and the perizonium which falls to Christ's knees is picked out in vertical bands of blue enamel.
Minimal wear. Height 15 cm, width of arms 11.5 cm.
