Probably West Germany mid-18th century

A West German wooden figure of the Virgin and Child, mid-18th century

Carved in the round, the reverse of the plinth flattened. With older, presumably original, polychromy.. The Virgin stands in a gently swaying pose, holding the Christ Child in Her left arm. The high plinth is decorated with winged angel's heads amid clouds, as well as foliage and scrolls.
The Madonna's sceptre and crown missing. Minimal wear. Height 48 cm.
