A London silver punch bowl made for Prince Henry of Prussia

Round bowl on a domed base, decorated throughout with flowers in rocaille cartouches. Engraved with Prince Henry's crowned monogram and the Imperial eagle to the display side, dated 24.V.1888 and with the dedication inscription: "von Wilhelm, Victoria, Bermhard, Charlotte, Victoria, Sophie, Margarethe." H 20.5; diameter 37 cm, weight 2,177 g.

Prince Henry of Prussia married his cousin Princess Irene of Hesse-Darmstadt on 24th May 1888. This punch bowl was a wedding present from Prince Henry's siblings Crown Prince William and his wife Auguste Victoria, Princess Charlotte and her husband Duke Bernhard von Sachsen-Meiningen, and the younger princesses Victoria, Sophia, and Margarethe.
