A Louis XIV period "tête de poupée" clock

Boulle style marquetry in engraved brass and tortoiseshell. Ormolu mountings and ebonised oak, the numerals on 12 enamel plaques, blued steel hands. 30-hour movement with verge escapement, balance spring, and strike on two bronze bells. A small bombé form table clock on a bracket like lower section, with a cockerel finial. Decorated to both sides with tendrils in première-partie technique. Engraved to the face and the plate "Tallon le Fils AParis". The bolt for the back panel lacking. H 28, W 13.8 cm.

Tardy published the signature "le fils" for Louis Tallon l´aîné, who is traceable until 1778 (Dictionnaire des horlogers français, Paris 1972, p. 603).
