A carved wooden figure of Saint Augustine, presumably Flemish, 1st half 16th century

Carved three-quarters in the round, the reverse flattened. Partially overpainted older polychromy. A large figure of the father of the church standing in contrapposto and dressed in a bishop's regalia. He holds his attribute, a flaming heart, in his raised left hand.
His left hand reattached. The crozier replaced, the crook lacking. Some wear. Mounted on a modern wooden plinth. Height 134 cm (without plinth).
