An ivory figure of Alexander the Great riding Bucephalus

A small figure of a triumphant rider in ancient Greek armour holding a sword aloft and mounted on a rearing horse with horns. On a flat rectangular socle. Minor replacements, such as the back of the saddle and parts of the horse's legs. H 19.1 cm.
Late 17th C. with newer amendments.

The Greek word "bucephalos" means bull-headed. The author of this work has interpreted this by giving the horse the horns of a bull.
