Cube and Sphere. While the cube symbolises solidity and durability, the sphere stands for the fragile, the unsteady, the changeable. In the combination of both elements, as in Goethe's 'Stein des guten Glücks' (1777), an equally happy or unhappy coincidence of fate can be ascertained. Koenig remembers this classic and presents a fine interpretation of fluctuating and stable aspects that has been shifted into the landscape.
Landscape, what a bold title! The line of a landscape, a hilly landscape with valley and hills, whose silhouette ends on the cross-section of a pedestal, provides the basis for the sphere. An idiosyncratic finding instead of the expected classic cube in the shape of a hexahedron.
