Kleine Zwei VI, veränderte Fassung
Bronze with black brown patina. Height 35 cm, Ø base plate 22.5 cm. Monogrammed 'FK' (scratched). One of 6 casts.
Sphere, hemisphere, and tapered columns are expressive elements, which Koenig mounted and balanced on bases. The couple depictions based on human bodies dominate the work of the 1970s. Numerically named 'Zwei' and varied within a wide range, this motif becomes one of the artist's distinguishing characteristics. Out of form reduction, the artist develops cubic simplifications of spheres, hemispheres, halved and round rods, combined into figures, from which the epitaphs finally increasingly emerge into the foreground. Epitaphs of various surfaces with inclinations, with ledges and steps and any imaginable form of lying in state and burial in a single grave or mass grave.
