An Augsburg partially gilt silver writing set made for the Princes of Thurn and Taxis

Rectangluar corpus with gadrooned borders resting on four bun feet. The top with cylindrical hollows for the ink well, quill stand, and pounce box. Decorated throughout with acanthus scrolls and two relief medallions depicting Chronos and Prudentia, to the centre a perpetual calendar with apertures for the date, month, saint's days, astrological symbols, and lengths of night and day. W 26.5; D 13; H 10.5 cm, weight 807 g.
Marks of Samuel Frey, 1699 - 1703.
