A large Louis XV ormolu cartel clock

Gillt bronze and brass case, glazed enamel dial with black Roman hours and small Arabic minutes. Large 14-day pendulum movement with thread suspension and half-hourly bell chime. Scroll cartouche form with grapevine garlands and a mallow flower. The upper section with a winged putto on a cloud. Signed to the dial "Filon AParis". Restored, cleaned, textile lining replaced. H ca. 70 cm.
Paris, circa 1750 - 60.

This clock was probably made by the Charles-Ceuille Filon (also written Fillon), who became a master in 1751 and had his workshop on the rue de la Grande-Truanderie.
