An important Parisian Louis XV ormolu pendulum clock

White enamel dial with Roman hours, Arabic minutes, and openwork gilt hands. Large pendulum movement with thread suspension and half-hourly striking to a gong. A large, finely chased clock cast in several connected parts and depicting the rape of Europa. The dial signed "ETIENNE LENOIR A PARIS" (as of 1717, Tardy p. 376). Restored around one winding hole. H 45, W 35.5, D 22.5 cm.
Etienne Lenoir, ca. 1750 and later, the bronzes after a design by Robert Osmond.
