An early English mortar with four loop handles

Cast bronze with slightly mottled dark brown patina and two iron rings. Waisted form with protruding rim. The lower section inscribed in majuscule "RO ODR FRAPE", with each letter on a plaque. Four loop handles, two C-shaped with rings, two of which flat, alternating with quatrefoil cross ornaments on squares. Slight traces of green corrosion, the iron rings rusted. H 14, D 17 cm. Weight 5.3 kg. Including a later pestle.
