A large important Grassmayr mortar

Golden yellow bronze with natural patina. Squat, cylindrical vessel with moulded lower section. The centre of the body cast with motifs of the Virgin and Child in an aureola, vases of flowers, winged angel's heads, and sage leaves. With initials "M M" and dated "1687". H 22.2, D 19.6 cm. Weight 10.9 kg. Includes a presumably original pestle.
