A dated Grassmayr mortar with grasshoppers and a coin medallion

Cast bronze with slightly mottled pale brown patina. Cast with a series of motifs around the centre of the vessel: Grasshoppers, leaves, vases of flowers, mascarons, and a coin medallion dated "1693". With an engraved owner's cypher beside the dolphin handle. H 15, D 14.9 cm. Weight 4.6 kg. Including a corresponding pestle.
