An important North Italian dated pharmacy mortar

Golden brown cast bronze with brown patina. Squat, conical vessel on stepped base with moulded rim. Cast with a heraldic shield and a monogram cartouche flanked by four Caduceus motifs, a letter G and crowned C. The caster's signature inscribed around the rim "PCRINELL DEFILIPP MEFEFAREC NV L NTAMAI N PESTARE" and dated "MCCCCLXVII". C-shaped handles with braided motifs. H 12.2, D 17.3 cm. Weight 4.5 kg.
