A late 15th century carved mother-of-pearl relief with the martyrdom of Saint Catherine, probably German
Finely worked round relief with smooth borders and recessed centre. The piece depicts Saint Catherine kneeling with the wheel as her identifying attribute and a soldier with an upraised sword beside her on the left.
Minimal wear, minor soiling. Four small drilled holes allow the piece to be mounted to the velvet covered frame. Diameter 5.7 cm.
