Spain or Portugal 17th century

A 17th century carved ivory relief with the Adoration of the Child, Spanish or Portuguese

With the original polychromy. Shell shaped travel altar carved to the front with a high relief depiction of Mary and Joseph adoring the infant Christ beneath God the Father amidst clouds and an angel with a chalice above and the ox and ass below.
The separately attached right hand of the angel and parts of the cross on the orb lost. A curved crack through the entirety of the piece. Minor losses to the polychromy. Mounted on a double-sided velvet covered stand. Diameter 6 cm, depth 3.5 cm.
