A 17th century carved ivory figure of Saint John (?), probably Goa

Carved in the round with remains of partial polychromy. Standing figure of a beardless young man holding a book. The saint stands with his eyes raised and his right hand placed upon his breast, presumably to be interpreted as a figure of Saint John from a crucifixion scene.
Minimal wear to the base. Yellowing. Height 11.3 cm.
