A Gothic two-handled mortar

Cast bronze with slightly mottled golden brown patina. Cylindrical form with six pointed ribs terminating in sculptural paw feet, flaring moulded rim. Two angular faceted handles. The lower section above the feet slightly rounded due to usage. H 24, D 19.2 cm. Weight c. 7.2 kg. Includes a corresponding iron pestle.
Attributed to Southern Germany, 15th century.
