Cast bronze sculpture with fine chocolate brown patina on a black marble base. Signed "LAUCHHAMMER BILDGUSS 27" on the back of the plinth. H with base 42.3 cm.
Lauchhammer foundry, 1920s.

The Lauchhammer foundry was opened in 1725 as a decorative cast iron foundry but began casting bronze in around 1838. They cast motifs by famous contemporary artists as well as reproductions of ancient statues, such as this famous figure of a praying boy from Rhodes (4th - 3rd C. B.C.) that has been housed in the antiquities collection of what is now the State Museum in Berlin since 1747.
