A boxwood netsuke of a hakutaku. Second half 19th century

One of the rarest mythological animals reproduced as a netsuke, reminiscent of a goat with two arched horns - here one behind the other - a long beard, and small flames emanating from the joints of the forelegs. The animal is seated on an oval base. Finely carved, engraved and polished.
Height 4.4 cm
