A pair of large Augsburg silver gilt toilette boxes

Bombé form scalloped oval boxes on waisted base. Twist fluted and richly decorated with embossed and finely engraved scrolls and flowerheads. The domed lid with conforming decor and a finely chased shell shaped thumb rest. One of the boxes with a lock, the key missing. H 12.5; W 22; D 15.5 cm, total weight 832 and 881 g.
Marks of Gottlieb Satzger, 1749 - 51.
