An early Hachmann mortar made for Berndt Opterstraet and Margriet Markolfs

Golden brown cast bronze with honey coloured natural patina. Decorated on the display side with a vacant coat-of-arms supported by two winged demi-figures. With two broad overlapping banderoles below the rim inscribed in Latin capital letters: “BERNDT OPTERSTRAET MARGRIET MARKOLFS” and “SIN HVISFROVW ANNO XVC L”. With two zoomorphic handles. A horizontal crack along the front, some small cracks around the base of the right handle, minor abrasions. H 12, D 13.2 cm, weight c. 2.6 kg.
