A rare mortar with a flame motif

Golden brown cast bronze with silver-gold shimmering patina. Tapering mortar with a protruding, moulded base and flaring moulded rim. Decorated in the lower section with large acanthus leaves and flame motifs. The handles formed as dolphins. Some slight calcific deposits and traces of rust to the interior, a hairline crack running through the underside. H 17.7, D 18.7 cm, weight c. 8.3 kg.
