An early Hachmann mortar with dolphin handles

Golden brown cast bronze with honey coloured natural patina. The display side decorated with a vacant coat-of-arms supported by winged demi-figures. Below the rim a broad banderole (not running all the way around) inscribed in Gothic minuscule: “int iaer ons heren m vc lvii”. The large, finely chased handles formed as dolphins. Minor casting flaws around the rim, the base, and the handle, wear and minor verdigris to the interior. H 14.2, D 16.4 cm, weight c. 4.7 kg.
