A magnificent early Hachmann mortar

Golden brown cast bronze with caramel coloured patina. The display side decorated with a vacant coat-of-arms supported by winged demi-figures. With two wide banderoles below the rim and above the base inscribed in Gothic minuscule: “anno domini m ccccc lxiii” and “nv wals got al tit”. With two zoomorphic handles. Minor dents around the upper rim, some hairline casting cracks to the lower section, the inside with verdigris, minor abrasions throughout. H 13.9, D 14.1 cm, weight 3.3 kg. Includes a corresponding T-shaped pestle. L 23 cm.
