An early Hachmann mortar with an inscription

Golden brown cast bronze with chocolate brown patina. The display side decorated with a vacant coat-of-arms supported by winged demi-figures. With two wide banderoles below the rim and above the base inscribed in Gothic minuscule: “anno domini m ccccc lxi” and “nu wals got al tit”. With two zoomorphic handles. A small casting flaw to the front of the base. H 12.6, D 13 cm, weight c. 3 kg.
Attributed to the Hachmann workshop, Albert Hachmann, Cleves, 1561.
