A dated Hachmann mortar

Golden brown cast bronze with natural patina. The display side decorated with a vacant coat-of-arms supported by winged demi-figures, the reverse with a depiction of the Veil of Veronica flanked by two putti. With two wide banderoles below the rim and above the base inscribed in Gothic minuscule: “senedut haell (?) int iaer m vc lxxvi” and “myn hape steit allein in godt”. With two zoomorphic handles. Scratches, casting faults to the base of the left handle. H 12.5, D 13.2 cm, weight c. 3.2 kg.
