A Hachmann mortar made for Johan and Agneis Hochhen

Polished golden brown cast bronze. The display side decorated with a vacant coat-of-arms supported by winged demi-figures. With two wide banderoles below the rim and above the base inscribed in Gothic minuscule and Latin capital letters: “johan hochhen agneis syn huisfrouw” and “ANNO DOMINI M VC LXXVIII”. The handles formed as double-headed dragons. Slight verdigris in the indentations, cracks. H 14.2, D 14.8 cm, weight c. 3.8 kg. Includes a corresponding T-shaped pestle. L 24.5 cm.
