A Hachmann mortar made for Johan die Ruey

Golden brown cast bronze with natural patina. The display side decorated with a vacant coat-of-arms supported by winged demi-figures. With two wide banderoles below the rim and above the base inscribed in Gothic minuscule: “johan die ruey errem syn huisfrouw” and “int iaer ons heren m vc lxxi”. With two zoomorphic handles. Minor dents around the rim, some small casting faults to the base. H 12.4, D 13.1 cm, weight 3.3 kg.
