A pair of Empire bronze vases

Fire-gilt and burnished bronze vases cast in several parts and screw-mounted. Rare variation of the "aiguière" style of vase with handles formed as swans drinking from shells. Decorated with scenes of maenads and amoretti on hyppocampi. One of the feet loose / screw and the volute under the tail of the one swan missing, minor wear and staining. H c. 49 cm.
Attributed to Paris, around 1800 / early 19th C.
