A figure of the Virgin and Child, presumably Upper Rhine Region, around 1430/1440

Wood, carved in the round, the reverse only summarily rendered. With remnants of older polychromy. Depicting the Virgin Mary standing in a gently swaying pose holding the nude Christ Child in both hands. The S-shaped curve figure's stance is accentuated by the deeply modelled folds of the cloak worn draped about her shoulders.
The Child's right forearm missing. Wear with minor losses. Height 52 cm.
