“In the years after 1950, Adolf Fleischmann created the works which provided the foundation for his standing in the history of modern art. Oil paintings, reliefs, collages and drawings are based on a pictorial thinking that became seminal for the art of the 1960s. It is no coincidence that Eugen Gomringer counts Adolf Fleischmann as the ‘true founder’ of op art.
