A boxwood netsuke of an octopus in a bundle. Nagoya. Ca. 1850-1880

An octopus escapes from a bundle of long rushes, tied together in the middle and at both ends, sea snails and a clam inside are visible in the gaps of the bundle. The eyes of ivory and black horn. Signed Ikkyû in a raised cartouche.
Height 3.3 cm; length 7.5 cm
