A Sinotibetan gilt bronze figure of Dharmapala Begtse (Beg-ts'e). 18th/19th century

The fearsome deity with flaming hair and skull crown is standing in pradyalidhasana, dressed in armour, mail shirt, tiger skin and Mongolian shoes, his raised right hand is holding the lobster-shaped hilt of the Khadga sword, the left wields the bleeding human heart of the defeated enemy (not available) up to his gaping mouth. Finely engraved ornaments, the hair with red cult color. His ferocious expression enhanced by flame-like hair with remains of red pigemts and a skull tiara.
