A Meissen porcelain snuff box

Angular model mounted in 18k gold with slightly domed lid and rocaille reliefs picked out in purple. Painted with a scenes based on printed designs: figures with a magic lantern against architecture reminiscent of Johann Wilhelm Baur, a town crier after Dietricy, a rat poison seller to the underside, a knife grinder after François Boucher, peasant scenes on the sides after Adriaen von Ostade. Unmarked. H 4, W 8.9, D 6.9 cm.
