A tea caddy by Abraham Roentgen
Rosewood and burr walnut on oak and softwood corpus, brass and brass plated iron mountings, textile lining. Oblong box with concave gable lid and rounded handle. The lid, front and sides veneered in burrwood with brass border strips and fine vertical grain. The protruding base on four curved bracket feet. With a finely engraved cartouche-form lock plate. The right side opens to reveal a shallow secret drawer in the base at the push of a hexagonal button. The two interior dividers lacking, the edge of the base strengthened by a frame that is broken at the height of the lock mechanism, minor losses. H with handle folded 16.5, W 22.5, D 14.5 cm.
