A Royal Vienna porcelain cup "Cupid rediscovers his weapons"

Painted with a mythological scene on black ground in an oval reserve, the underside of the cup inscribed "Cupidon rendant des actions de Graces pour la restitution de ses armes." Blue bindenschild mark, ii in gold (saucer), year stamp 821, pressnummers 12 and 40, incised marks. Minor wear to the gilding of the saucer. H cup 8.5, D saucer 14.6 cm.

The motif of this cup is also based on a hand drawing by the English Princess Elizabeth (1770 - 1840), daughter of King George III and Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, married Landgravine of Hesse-Homburg. They were published anonymously at the end of the 18th century.
