A pair of round Berlin KPM porcelain tureens and covers with scenes after Watteau

Model no. 674. With shell handles and large rose-form finials. Both pieces decorated in iron red with figural motifs after Antoine Watteau. Blue sceptre mark, incised III, impressed numbers. The roses restored, minor wear to the gilding. H 23.5, W 28.5 cm.
Circa 1775 - 80.

This service with iron red Watteau style decor could not yet be assigned to any historical commission or recipient. A plate presumably belonging to the same service was sold in the Lempertz Berlin auction of 2nd May 2015 as lot 48.
