A rare Meissen porcelain tobacco box

Lobed design finely painted with landscapes and merchant navy scenes in six reserves. Blue crossed swords mark. Minor staining from the firing process, the branch shaped handle restored. H 17.5, diameter 15 cm.
Around 1745.

Provenance

Probably in the Electoral Bavarian collections of the Wittelsbach family since the 18th century, through marriage in the princely collection of Sayn-Wittgenstein, Rottach-Egern, at the beginning of the 20th century.
