Figure modelled by Peter Reinicke, 1743, the mountings 18th / 19th C.

The sculptor Peter Reinicke, born in Danzig in 1711, was hired as a model maker in the manufactory on April 1st 1743. Shortly afterwards he created five models of exotic figures for Count Brühl's table, including the Chinese cavalier featured on this writing set. The figure is described in his workshop report from May 1st 1743 as “1 "bajodten" with bare head reaching for his sword”.
