Two children are shown visiting an old carpenter in his dimly lit workshop. The carpenter has paused his work at the lathe to observe the boy and girl, who proudly present him with their playthings - a crossbow and a small cart. The Hamburg based artist Felix Schlesinger specialised in such scenes with children, which were internationally sought after and even found numerous buyers in the United States.
