Bronze sculpture. Height 7.5 cm. Mounted on white-grained black marble base (3 x 6.8 x 5.8 cm). With the signature stamp [A.] Gaul on the inside of the tail feathers at left. One of a few known casts. - With brownish-bronze coloured patina. - The outermost claw of right foot slightly bent upwards. The base with chip in one corner.

Rare; one of the few existing early casts with extraordinary fine modelling particularly of head, back plumage and feet.
